Maroma Press specialises in themes relating to southern Spain, including fiction and non-fiction.

Born and educated in Oswestry, Shropshire, David Baird has worked for publications around the world, from Britain and Australia to Hong Kong and Canada. As a foreign correspondent, he has contributed articles to The Economist, The Guardian, the New York Times, Maclean's Magazine, and many other publications. For the past few years he has been based in southern Spain.

His books include historical works, several guidebooks and works of fiction. He has twice been awarded Spain's national prize for non-Spanish travel writers.

Between Two Fires – Guerrilla war in the Spanish sierras is  a poignant factual account of the impact of a virtually unreported guerrilla war which raged in southern Spain in the 1940s. It has won praise from historians Ian Gibson and Paul Preston. 

Meticulously researched, East of Malaga — Essential guide to the Axarquia and Costa Tropical is the first English guide to one of the most attractive corners of southern Spain. It offers a wealth of information on local history, rich traditions and memorable sights.
