As a member of the Oswestry School community, you are part of the school's long and rich history which spans over 600 years.
Founded in 1407 by David Holbache and his wife Gwenhwyfar, Oswestry School must have been a beacon of hope and progression at a time when a good education was a privilege of the very few. David and Gwenhwyfar wanted to provide opportunity and learning for others, and established Oswestry School with a generous endowment fund to a headmaster in perpetuity. They clearly understood that access to education was essential for a progressive society, and used their own personal wealth to ensure Oswestry provided opportunity for its young people.
For centuries, the Oswestry School community has continued to support our school - take a walk around our campus today and you will see wonderful facilities and resources that are here thanks to generous donations from our OOs.
Your support, large or small, makes a world of difference. We have some exciting plans for 2024 and will be calling on our alumni community to support the next chapter of our School's development.

The 1407 Society
David Holbache founded Oswestry School in 1407, a non-denominational school for Oswestry scholars and part of his goal of making education available to all. Since then, philanthropy and keeping excellent education accessible has been at the core of Oswestry School's philosophy.
So named in acknowledgement of our founding year and our Founder's enduring principles of charitable giving, The 1407 Society is Oswestry School's regular giving society. Joining The 1407 Society entails a commitment of at least £1,407 per year, for 5 years.
In recognition of this generous pledge, we host an annual luncheon for our society members, which is always a highlight of our social calendar. In addition, all members receive:
• an inaugural tour of the School
• a private audience with the Headmaster
• preferential/advanced booking for School events
• discounted tickets for alumni events, including Founder's Dinner
• a VIP ticket to the opening of the Memorial Theatre
• and a 1407 Society lapel pin

As well as donating gifts of money you can also help Oswestry School by gifting shares. This can be very a tax-effective way to make a gift to the School. Individuals don't have to pay tax on shares that are donated to the school.
All shares that are transferable can be donated to Oswestry School, but only publicly quoted shares qualify for tax relief for the donor. Publicly quoted shares include shares listed on the London Stock Exchange or Alternative Investment Market shares (AIM).
